What you provide

When you request the newsletter, we store your email address, your selected reader role, an optional name, subscription status, consent version, and request and confirmation timestamps. A random confirmation token is stored as a hash until it is used or expires. Contact and advertiser forms store the name, email, optional company, message, and notification status you provide.

Why we use it

We use subscription details to confirm your request, maintain the newsletter list, and send the publication through our selected email delivery service. We use inquiry details to respond, handle corrections, and discuss potential partnerships. A contact inquiry does not sign you up for marketing.

Email confirmation and leaving the list

A new signup remains pending until the email owner confirms. Confirmation links expire after 48 hours. Welcome emails include a subscription management link. Newsletter campaigns should also include an unsubscribe link from the sending platform. You may contact the editors for help leaving the list or making a privacy request.

Service providers and infrastructure

The website host and configured email provider process information to operate the site and deliver messages. The publisher may transfer confirmed subscriber records to its newsletter platform. We do not sell subscriber details through the built-in website. If the publisher adds a different service, advertising technology, or analytics, this policy must be updated to describe it.

Browser tools, cookies, and logs

The trip calculator and sponsor worksheet run in your browser. Their input values are not submitted to the publisher or saved by these tools; a downloaded file stays wherever you save it. The installer adds no analytics, advertising pixels, external fonts, or marketing cookies. WordPress, its host, your active plugins, or an administrator login may use cookies and server logs. For spam protection, this plugin temporarily counts form requests using a salted hash derived from the connection IP address; it does not store the raw IP in subscriber records.

Retention and security

Confirmed subscriber records remain while the subscription is active, unless removed through a verified request. Scheduled cleanup is designed to remove unconfirmed requests after 7 days, unsubscribed website records after 90 days, and inquiries after 180 days. Cleanup depends on the host running WordPress scheduled tasks. Backups, host logs, legal retention needs, and separate email-platform suppression records may follow different retention periods.

We use WordPress access controls and limit administrative access. No website or delivery system can promise absolute security. Please do not send sensitive personal or payment information through ordinary contact forms.

Your requests

You may ask for access, correction, deletion, or subscription assistance through the contact page. We may need to verify the email associated with a request. Applicable rights depend on your location and circumstances.

Young readers

The signup and inquiry forms are intended for people age 13 and older. Parents and coaches should supervise younger readers. Please contact the publisher if you believe a child under 13 submitted personal information.
